Meeting Description

Date: February, 2006:
When to Choose Which AMD Processor

AMD coordinating with Equus Computers will send a Field Application Engineer to discuss their line of Server, Desktop and Mobile CPUs. Topics will include:

  • The advantages of 64 bit CPUS. Is there any advantage with 32 bit operating systems?
  • Dual core/Dual processor technology
  • Heat issues.
  • Turion Laptop / mobile technology and how it compares with Centrino (heat, speed, battery life, wireless stability).
  • Hyperthreading or hypertransport? Are they really hyper or just hype?
  • How is memory accessed and how is speed optimized?
  • Virus protection in the CPU? How does that work?
  • Why choose AMD (in terms of benefits to the clients, not features)?
  • When is the added cost of the more expensive processor type worth it?
